Herbal Skin Tag Treatment

Skin tags are small tumors that are benign. They normally appear in areas where the skin creases, like the eyelids, under the breasts, underarms and neck. Skin tags can also appear on the face and back. Although tumours, skin tags are harmless and are not cancerous. Skin tags can be flesh coloured or slightly darker, and they look like a small piece of hanging skin that are on average the size of a grain of rice. In some cases, skin tags can be much larger, growing to the size of a ping pong ball.

Although bothersome, skin tags are relatively easy to treat. Skin tags can be removed easily by doctors - but this procedure is considered cosmetic, and can be costly. Most health insurance plans don't cover the removal of skin tags. In most cases, skin tags can be removed easily and painlessly at home. There are quite a few do-it-yourself removal kits on the market and while some of them contain harsh chemicals, others are completely natural. Herbal treatments for skin tags normally combine a variety of herbs and natural ingredients. Herbal treatments normally take a few days to start working, and the tag will fall off within a few days. If this does not happen, you may have to consult a doctor for removal.

Although herbal treatments tend to be safer than man made chemicals, it is always a good idea to have your kit evaluated by a medical professional before applying anything to the skin, as you may inadvertently end up causing more harm than good. It is also important to note that herbal treatments are not recommended for skin tags in sensitive areas like the genitals. If you have skin tags in this area, consult your doctor for removal.

Types of Herbal Skin Tag Treatments

Dermasil, a powerful product that combines extracts from three plants, is considered to be a powerful skin tag treatment. Although natural, this treatment can be costly - ranging $29.99-$119 a bottle. This is not an economical option for those with one or two skin tags. If you have a few skin tags and they are recurring, Dermasil may be a good investment. Another natural herb that is used to treat skin tags is bloodroot. Although it is poisonous if ingested, bloodroot has proven to effectively treat some cases of skin tags. Take some bloodroot paste and apply it directly over the skin tag. Cover the the affected area with a band aid and check frequently. In a few days, the tag should fall off. Castor oil and Tea tree oil are also effective. Soak a cotton ball in one or the other (don't mix the two) and apply to the affected area 2-3 times a day. You may want to keep the area covered up with a band aid, but it is not required. With tea tree oil, you may experience a tingling sensation. This is normal. If the skin tag doesn't fall off within a week, consult your doctor.
